Delivering 3D Wow Factor In TV - New Samsung LED 3D TVs

Posted by devilruns on 28 December 2010

All you need do is read any of the many Samsung LED 3D TV reviews and you will see that customers are saying Samsung may be setting new standards for 3D TV’s.

We want to sit at home and be able to watch a movie or program on our TV that gives the same visual experience as being at the movies. Flat screens promised clearer pictures, next HD [High Definition] sets appeared on the scene, and then Blu-Ray promised even higher picture definition and clarity. But it still has no feeling of depth. Not like reality.

But now we have 3D, or 3-Dimensional, TV’s to choose from which give us almost lifelike viewing.

So why do we need them? Basically our eyes do not see exactly what our brain tells us. Since our eyes are spaced apart each eye sees the same image from a slightly different angle. Our brain puts the 2 images together to form one 3D image.

3D TV’s display two separate and overlapping images of the same scene simultaneously, at slightly different angles. Special 3D glasses allow us to see both images so the brain can create the single 3D image as normal.

Initially launched early in 2010, Samsung have already proven their new sets to be very popular. The Samsung 3D TV’s are super thin with some models only 0.9″ thick. Being backlit with LED technology means much lower power use with better brightness and contrast, as well as looking great up on your wall. Especially the one with a brushed titanium finish.

There are currently 2 series of flat panel 3D televisions available from Samsung. The 7000 series has a choice of 40, 46, or 55 inch size screens. A bigger 65 inch panel is available in the 8000 series, as well as a 46 or 55 inch unit.

Internet connectivity is also available on a number of models which extends your options even further for downloads of different media. In fact, there are just too many features and options to list all of them here. So here are just a few technical specs for those who love their numbers:

Full 1080p HD
240 Hz Clear Motion Rate
Game Mode
Exceeds ENERGY STAR Standards
Wide Color Enhancer Plus
10 Watts x 2 audio power stereo broadcast reception
Supports multichannel sound (MTS)and sound audio program (SAP) with 181-channel capacity
Built in Digital Tuner
4 HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) version 1.4
Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC)
2 USB
PC input
Ethernet
Optical sound output
Component Video Input

If you want 3D, you experience the thrill of 3D animation with outstanding image quality of vision and action that literally jumps off the screen with advanced technology, then you will get a Samsung LED TV 3D.

Samsung BDP3600 LCD Television

Posted by devilruns on 27 December 2010

The BD-P3600 is an incredible Blu-Ray player with full 1080p HD resolution for the most life-like movies and sports games. Your living room will quickly transform into a state-of-the-art theatre thanks to the impressive playback qualities of the BDP3600.

The Samsung BDP3600 not only plays Blu-Ray dics, but also standard DVD’s, downloaded DivX movies, MP3 and WMA discs, disc’s with JPG files and audio CD’s as well.

When you’re out of movies to watch, why not watch one through NetFlix or listen to music from Pandora, all without ever leaving your home. The easy to use menu’s allow you to connect to Netflix and Pandora in no time so you can get on with watching your favorite movies, even when the video store is closed or you don’t feel like going out.

If you can pick up a great bargain for this TV then it is well worth going for. Otherwise, you might want to take a look at some of the other models.

Although Blu-Ray players provide great quality video, they have some rather annoying features that we just have to live with. On most models, it’s the terribly long delay when loading a disc, but the Samsung BDP3600 is different. It loads up quickly, which is much improved compared to models made in the past and models currently made by most other manufacturers.

If you want to connect your BD-P3600 to the internet it comes complete with a USB dongle to connect to a Wi-Fi connection that will allow you to take advantage of BD-Live content. Even if you don’t have a wireless internet connection in your home, you simply plug your internet cable into the ethernet port and you’re connected. When you want to download BD-Live content, you can easily do that with the 1GB of storage built in. For users who need a full featured Blu-Ray player that offers almost every option in terms of audio and video playback, choose the Samsung BDP3600.

Choosing Blu-Ray Players: A How-To

Posted by devilruns on 26 December 2010

In consumer electronics, the 2000s was the decade of the rise of HD and the HD format wars. At the end of the decade, HDTV has become ubiquitous and one format defeated all others. In 2008, HD-DVD was defeated by Sony’s Blu-ray.

With everything settled, it’s a good time to pick and buy a Blu-ray player. There will be lots of deals. The technology is already pretty established. You won’t suffer from early adopter syndrome where you will be the guinea pig for new Products. So how do you choose a good player?

First, a player must be a TV. Not be eligible to see an HD source on a standard definition TV. There just is not enough pixel. SD is only up to 480i. There are two types of HD, from the market. They are called HD Ready and Full HD. HD Ready project only up to 720p. Go Full HD up to 1080p. In combination with the right players, you see the benefits of HD video. Pay attention to your reader and checkyour TV for their video capabilities.

High definition is not only for video. It also applies to audio as well. Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio are examples of high def audio. Both of these have logos that can be found on the Blu-ray player. This will ensure that the player can output those formats.

For me, the most frustrating part of the Blu-ray specification is the firmware. In order for it to play the latest movies, the player needs to be updated every now and then. The updates fix problems or add features. This sounds like a good thing until you realize that not all players can be updated. Or the update process is tedious. The easiest to update are players with Wi-Fi or an Ethernet port. Players with those can probably update itself automatically when it is connected to the Internet. Otherwise you’ll have to download updates yourself, save to a USB flash drive or optical disc. Or it can’t be updated at all.

There are three hardware profiles for Blu-ray players. Profile 1.0 is the first and the simplest. Manufacturers are no longer manufacturing these. All they can do is play movies, which isn’t bad. It has been replaced with Profile 1.1 aka Bonus View. The player has 256 MB of memory. It primarily has the picture-in-picture feature, among others. Profile 2.0 aka BD-Live is the hardware profile that adds an Internet connection plus 1 GB of storage. This is meant for downloading additional content that can’t be put into a Blu-ray disc. Most discs will require this functionality later.

This holiday season will feature a lot of deals. Pick the right one for you. Don’t buy a player that is gimped or won’t move forward. If your needs are simple then a profile1.0 hardware can be a bargain. If you really love content then a BD-Live enabled player is better for you.

Samsung UE65C8000 Review

Posted by devilruns on 23 December 2010

One of the newest models from Samsung, the Samsung UE65C8000 is really one of the most impressive flat screens out there right now.

So how does it measure up? Well simply put, it’s really just one of the best all around flat screens -a s weel as very big!. With its plasma LCD screen, it really does look quite good. Really, if you haven’t watched television on a nice, big HDTV yet, you’ll really be knocked flat out by what it’s really capable of. Try watching something with a lot of color, something like Rio Bravo or anything else filmed in Technicolor, and you’ll definitely be seeing things in a new way.

The colors are surprisingly bold, strong and beautiful, the blacks are deep and rich, they’re “real” black, not a dark gray half tone. If you’re still wondering whether or not to bother upgrading from your old standard definition set, then do yourself a favor and pay a visit to a friend with a high def television set. Watch something on the Samsung UE65C8000, and you’ll likely be converted by the end of the show.

The Samsung UE65C8000 set comes with all of the features you expect from a modern high def television set, of course, including HDMI compatibility and a USB port. With HDMI, you can plug your Blu Ray player, your Xbox or your PlayStation into the set and get the full quality picture. With HDMI, you’re always getting the very best, most high quality image available.

HDMI is plug and play. In the past, you’d need all kinds of special converters and so on to use HDMI sources on your television set, but now, HDMI comes standard, so you can just plug anything you want to plug into it right into it, and you’re good to go. Of course, this is just standard in modern high def television sets, but it’s always welcome.

Of course the really great thing about HDMI is that you can plug the Samsung UE65C8000 right into your PC. This means that you can take that old laptop or Mac you have in your closet and actually make it useful once more. You can just plug it right in and use it as your all purpose entertainment center, so you can stream your iTunes or your Netflix directly into your new HDTV.

The USB comes in handy as well, of course. You can use the Samsung UE65C8000 HDTV as your display for photos from your camera, or plug your MP3 player into it and use your surround sound as a stereo system, so compatibility isn’t an issue.

The conclusion of this review of the Samsung UE65C8000 is this: It’s really just a very good flat screen television set. It’s high def with great, crisp picture and sound, and it has full compatibility with HDMI as well as with USB. It’s not too pricey, either, and it’s just right, in terms of size, for just about any room in your house. If you’ve been wanting to make the upgrade to HD, you can’t do much better.
